
A fatal crash occurred on Thursday morning on I-5 near Burlington, where a motorcyclist was involved in a wrong-way collision. As per FOX 13 Seattle, the accident took place in the southbound lanes at George Hopper Road. The Washington State Patrol responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.
Before the crash, authorities had twice called off a police pursuit of the motorcycle due to safety concerns. The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to MyNorthwest. The Skagit Smart Team is conducting an investigation into the incident.
A WSP trooper began pursuing a motorcyclist, who crossed into oncoming lanes. The motorcyclist collided with a section of the Skagit River bridge, was ejected, and made contact with a semi-truck. No other individuals were injured. Traffic was rerouted to George Hopper Road while the Skagit-Island Specialized Multi-Agency Response Team conducted an investigation, as stated by KATU.
