The National Weather Service Melbourne, FL, recently issued an update regarding the evolving weather patterns residents of Orlando may expect over the coming days. A warming trend is expected to continue through midweek before an impending cold front hits Wednesday night, plummeting temperatures below the seasonal norm into late week.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday night will experience the coldest temperatures of the week. Residents northwest of I-4 should brace for lows in the upper 30s, while most east central Florida is forecast to hover in the 40s. The wind chill early Friday morning is expected to drop, making it feel like it's in the 30s to low 40s. While this cold snap may feel abrupt, the gradual increase in cloud cover and light E/NE winds beforehand should at least partially buffer the transition.
For those on the coast and possibly keen to enjoy the seaside, the weather service advises that a few showers could be on the move this afternoon into tonight, with chances growing into Wednesday afternoon and night leading up to the cold front's arrival. Precipitation likelihood ramps up to 60-70% in the northern parts of east central Florida near Orlando, decreasing as you go farther south.
Marine conditions also reflect a similar pattern of disruption. While boating conditions seem favorable today, they are set to rapidly deteriorate by midweek as winds shift and seas rise to 6-8 feet over the Gulf Stream by Thursday. North winds of 5-10 mph are expected to boost wind chill values to an even colder perceived temperature. Post-cold front, dry conditions are forecast, and below-normal temperatures will persist into the weekend, offering a chilly reminder that Florida is not entirely immune to winter's touch.
The Orlando forecast extends into early next week. The Weather Service predicts temperatures will remain near or slightly below normal after the cold front moves on. While a potential warm-up could be on the horizon, residents must patiently endure Mother Nature's brisk mood a bit longer.
