Art is set to splash onto the scene in Orlando this weekend as the Sam Flax Wall Project revs up for a vivid display of local talent transforming the exterior of the Sam Flax art store, an event heralded and reported by Bungalower for bringing dynamism to Colonial Drive.
Featuring a line-up of sixteen artists including crowd favorites like Ric One, Delia Miller, and PJ Svejda, the project received a flood of nearly 200 submissions yet only sixteen were victorious in securing their canvas on the iconic building's sides, the selections were reported by Orlando Weekly. Attendees of the block party can expect interactive art stations, skateboard, and T-shirt customization opportunities, and the tempting lure of raffles while DJ Nigel John lays down the beats to fuel the creative frenzy food trucks from Shin Jung, Pocha 93, and others lining up to tackle any arising hunger,
The Orlando muralists' takeover is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., bringing forth a fusion of painting prowess and community engagement, as affirmed by Bungalower. In addition to the visual feast, visitors will get to enjoy a curated assemblage of food vendors, including Red Panda Noodles, Little Giant, Speakeasy Burger, Phat Ash Bakes, Gaucha, and The Tea Social, lined up to indulge the senses, infusing the atmosphere with more than just a dash of culinary delight.
While canvases come alive with color and form, the event doubles as a neighborhood block party, with Altaloma Avenue set to close between Colonial Drive and Hillcrest Street and Hittin' Skins ready to give away limited-edition Sam Flax merch.
