A woman from Milwaukee County experienced what she described as a blatant act of racism after visiting an Oak Creek car dealership for a routine oil change. She discovered a racial slur printed on her oil change sticker, a jarring sight that has since sparked public outrage and protests. The dealership, Kunes Buick GMC in Oak Creek, as reported by the FOX6 News.
According to FOX6 News, the woman, known as Starks, initially did not observe the slur when she collected her vehicle post-service. It was not until the dealership persistently called her, under the pretext of accidentally leaving a tool in her SUV, which they later claimed was a guise to retrieve and remove the offensive sticker, that she realized the severity of what had occurred. Starks, who identifies as biracial, was taken aback by the abhorrent epithet that was used to describe her vehicle.
WISN reported that when Starks confronted the dealership, Kunes Buick GMC didn't fix the situation. An insider close to Starks said the management didn’t take proper action. The dealership also allegedly tried to secretly remove the sticker with the racial slur without telling Starks.
Amidst the controversy, Kunes has since reportedly issued an apology for the incident. A spokesperson stated that they have apologized to Starks and also offered her credits for future service at other locations, TMJ4 reports.
