If you're in the Pasadena area and looking for a gathering that combines resilience with community spirit, consider heading over to the 2025 Black History Festival at Robinson Park, located at 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. Though the customary parade has been canceled due to the recent Eaton Fire, the event, set for today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature an array of activities aimed at recovery and shared joy, as reported by the City of Pasadena. For those planning to attend, be aware that Morton Ave. will be closed between Hammond St. and Mountain St. from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. to facilitate the event safely.
According to an announcement on the official City of Pasadena website, Pixie Boyden, Committee Co-Chair, reflected on the community's endurance, stating, "The Pasadena/Altadena community is stronger than our current circumstances, and while healing will take time, we are committed to helping that progress." Although the changes, look forward to youth performances by middle and high school students, festive activities, and support services from an array of local and federal agencies.
Those in attendance can expect performances between 10 – 11:30 a.m. and various festival activities ranging from 12 – 3 p.m. Services to assist in recovery efforts will be offered by different organizations such as LA County Public Works, LA County Regional Planning, Foothill Family / LA County Dept. of Mental Health, Red Cross, Office of the Assessor, and Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles, among others.
Gratitude is expressed towards the sponsors of the event, which include Pasadena City College, NAACP (Pasadena Branch), Huntington Health, Kidspace Children’s Museum, Pasadena Management Association, and Tournament of Roses.
