A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to a 15-year prison term for drug and ammunition offenses, as announced by U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero. The 49-year-old Tory Garvin faced Judge Wendy Beetlestone, who handed down the sentence following his June 2022 indictment and October plea, Garvin acknowledged guilt for distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute the same amount, and possessing ammunition as a felon.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Garvin was discovered with roughly 10 pounds of methamphetamine, making him "a significant supplier" in the Philadelphia area.
"Tory Garvin was a significant supplier of methamphetamine in Philadelphia, found in possession of about 10 pounds of the drug," U.S. Attorney Romero stated, expressing a commitment from her office to prosecute those responsible for "flooding our neighborhoods with illegal narcotics," to enhance the city's safety, health, and quality of life.
The conviction is the result of a collaborative investigation between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Pennsylvania State Police, as part of the efforts by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy Lanni and Angella Middleton carried the weight of prosecution, and this sentencing marks yet another notch in the belt of law enforcement agencies as they seek to disrupt the supply chain of narcotics within the community.
Following his prison term, Garvin will undergo five years of supervised release. The U.S. Attorney's Office communicated the details of the sentencing and encouraged contact for further inquiries through their press box email or phone number provided on their official website.
