In response to the steady stream of complaints, the Pierce County Sheriff's Office has launched a coordinated crackdown in collusion with several other local law enforcement agencies. According to their official blotter, this multi-agency response has yielded a significant number of citations within just one week, highlighting the dire need for sustained supervision.
The Sheriff's Office report showcases a remarkable result of the safety operation: 124 traffic infractions, 40 verbal warnings, and divers arrests including those for DUIs, driving with a suspended license, and noncompliance. A public nod was given to the Gig Harbor PD, Lakewood PD, Bonney Lake PD, Puyallup PD, and Tacoma PD for joining forces in this effort. The report notes, "these emphases will continue for as long as we need!" suggesting a level of commitment to bringing about long-term improvements in road safety.
