
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced that LADWP crews have effectively restored electrical service to the majority of households and businesses in the Pacific Palisades area, a move heralded as a significant advancement following the area's recent troubles with power outages. Notwithstanding the progress, challenges remain in areas heavily affected by the fires as efforts to reconnect and ensure safe power delivery continue, as stated on the mayor's official news release.
The task of restoring power involves verifying residential electrical panels and informing residents through notices once the power is back to switch on their main circuits, with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) remaining diligent in their efforts, working around the clock our Mayor commends, "LADWP has been working around the clock to restore power to the Palisades area, and their work has paid off," said Mayor Karen Bass, understanding that this initiative is but a step in a broader recovery plan.
Residents are urged to check their circuit breakers if their electricity is still out and report any lingering issues to LADWP by calling 1-800-DIAL-DWP or visiting their website for outage reporting. Meanwhile, the water restoration process is also underway, with efforts focused on both service reconnection and water quality assurance, particularly in the 90272 area and nearby communities where a "Do Not Drink" order remains in effect.
In the midst of recovery, LADWP is providing a reprieve for those facing property damage or loss due to the fire, urging customers who receive past-due notices to disregard them and contact 1-800-DIAL-DWP for account-related support, "For customers whose homes or businesses were damaged or destroyed in the fire and receive a past-due notice, please disregard it,” and the Customer Contact Center is ready to aid with related queries about stopping or transferring services.
