VIDEO: Santa Rosa Responds to Fountaingrove Landslide, Rescues Ensue and Homes Evacuated Amidst Ongoing Safety ConcernsSource: City of Santa Rosa Fire Department

On Tuesday, Santa Rosa was shattered as emergency crews rushed in response to a landslide on Deer Trail Court, where two people were found trapped inside their home. In an operation that spanned into the evening, firefighters from Sonoma County Fire District and Santa Rosa Fire Department were able to extract the residents. The slide, having originated on private property owned by Fountaingrove II Open Space Maintenance Association (OSMA), prompted a swift evaluation from engineers and geologists, coordinated by Santa Rosa’s Fire Department and Emergency Management officials, according to a social media update from the City of Santa Rosa Fire Department.

Three homes were evacuated in the wake of the disaster, and two were red-tagged. Warnings were issued to 17 homes in the vicinity.

In anticipation of the adverse possibilities that lie ahead, the City of Santa Rosa’s Fire Department, together with the Santa Rosa Transportation and Public Works Department, are putting their heads together with the County of Sonoma and the Sonoma County Fire District, planning around the clock for any potential evacuations that might need to be declared with an imminent threat as they closely collaborate with various authorities including the Sonoma Sheriff Office, Santa Rosa Police, and the Sonoma County Office of Emergency Management among others. Despite the concerted efforts, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any hint of land movement to 911 without delay.
