In a move bringing a familiar face into the Jacksonville Jaguars' front office, the team announced today that former all-pro left tackle and radiating local legend Tony Boselli would take on the role of Executive Vice President of Football Operations. According to statements from the team and cited by multiple sources including Action News Jax, The Florida Times-Union, and the official Jaguars website, Boselli's new role will see him report directly to owner Shad Khan. A new general manager, yet to be named, will also join Boselli and head coach Liam Coen to form what is characterized as a "football leadership unit."
Since his hanging up the cleats in 2003, Boselli's position at the Jaguars has evolved from a celebrated player to a voice on game-day broadcasts and now, to a defining figure in football operations. Boselli, excited by this latest opportunity to step as a driving force behind the Jaguars' "current rebirth," has history woven through this organization since being their very first draft pick back in 1995, a prestigious point not forgotten in the rush of fresh responsibilities mentioned by Action News Jax.
Shad Khan, expressing a deep confidence in Boselli's abilities, emphasized the former tackle's extensive NFL connections and understanding of the game's intricacies. "Few people have better relationships throughout the NFL, know the game, and understand the value of strong team identity and culture as well as Tony Boselli," Khan shared in a statement obtained by The Florida Times-Union. Boselli's role will not be confined to football operations; he is also tasked with overlaying player engagement, technology, and logistical concerns for the Jaguars.
Reflecting on his new role, Boselli described the moment akin to the insurmountable joy of being drafted in '95, a tear likely shed in recalling the past while stepping towards the future if equipped with emotions were Jaguars front-office jobs. "My passion for this team, these fans and this city has defined my football life," Boselli told the Jaguars' official site. He is prepared to build a "lasting foundation and winning tradition" for Jacksonville, hoping to leverage his acumen and deep roots to inspire pride in Jaguars fans.
Apart from football, Boselli has been a strong community presence since his rookie year with the founding of the Boselli Foundation. Residing in Ponte Vedra with his wife Angi and their five children, his commitment to the community and the Jaguars organization remains unwavering.
