In a verdict that has brought a measure of grim resolution, Juan Davis and Devonte Parker have been convicted on multiple charges related to the tragic death of 3-year-old Luis Diaz in Cleveland. In a statement obtained by the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office, Prosecutor Michael C. O'Malley described the senselessness of the crime, stating, "3-year-old Luis Diaz died because these four defendants are simply idiots. The issues between Katherine Treadway and Juan Davis led these four to shoot up a car and kill a child. Simply outrageous."

Facts from the prosecutor's office recount a dispute on September 28, 2023, when Katherine Treadway and an unidentified male victim were involved in an altercation near their residence. Treadway then contacted Davis, who, with Devonte Parker and Jayden Sorensen, conducted a drive-by shooting. Running to the rear of a nearby residence, Parker, with a handgun, and Sorensen, with a rifle, fired across the street, the shots ultimately reaching the vehicle where young Luis Diaz was fatally wounded, found shot in the back in his car seat. After fleeing from the scene, Davis, with the car still running, Parker, and Sorensen all evaded immediate capture.

According to court documents, Davis has been convicted of two counts of murder among other charges. His convictions include two counts of Murder, six counts of Felonious Assault, three counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Involuntary Manslaughter, and one count of Discharge Of Firearm On Or Near Prohibited Premises. As for Parker, his list of guilty charges mirrors that of Davis, as detailed on the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's website.

Pleas of guilt have also been entered by the additional defendants involved in this heart-wrenching case. Katherine Treadway pled guilty to one count of Involuntary Manslaughter, two counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Felonious Assault, and one count of Having Weapons Under Disability, captured by court documents. The youngest of the group, Jayden Sorensen, who was 16 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to similarly grave charges including one count of Involuntary Manslaughter and two counts of Attempted Murder. In the wake of these events that have so shook the community, sentencing for all the defendants is scheduled to take place at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center on February 18, at 9 am.
