Wake Forest residents should brace for the upcoming roadwork as the town kicks off its 2025 Road Resurfacing Project today. Starting today, concrete work will be taking place on more than 60 local streets, with asphalt work to follow in June, weather permitting. The repairs aim to not only address pavement issues but also update curb, gutter, and ADA ramps in compliance with national standards.
According to a release from the Town of Wake Forest, the project is a part of a 2022 Wake Forest Bond Referendum initiative. The town has contracted Fulford & Jones, a subcontractor of Blythe Construction, to rapidly begin concrete work on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The effort will extensively rehabilitate roads, eagerly aiming to improve the town's infrastructure and driving conditions for its citizens.
The streets set to see initial work include Flemming House Street, Jones Wynd, and Trammell Court, among others listed in the announcement. Residents living on the affected streets will receive door hanger notifications ahead of the construction, alerting them to the no-parking policy that will be strictly enforced during working hours. Any vehicles left on the street are to be towed at the owner's expense, a warning issued by the town to ensure smooth proceedings.
Traffic diversions are to be put in place, with detour signs and flaggers to guide motorists around the construction sites. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution, obey flag signals, and perhaps to consider alternate routes where available. The town assures that disruptions will be kept to a minimum, aiming to seamlessly incorporate this extensive project into the daily ebb and flow of local life without causing undue inconvenience.
