
Walter N. Slosar has stepped in as the Interim Chief Patrol Agent for the El Paso Sector (EPT), a key area in the framework of U.S. border security, his appointment effective as of Sunday. "I am honored to lead and serve alongside the dedicated men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol in the El Paso Sector," Slosar said in a statement, emphasizing the fundamental link between national security and the tireless work of Border Patrol agents, as reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
In his statement obtained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Chief Slosar shared his commitment to the mission that encompasses security measures and community protection, stating, "Our mission is to secure our borders and protect our communities. This mission will define every action we take, every goal we have, and every resource we use." His plans focus on improving operational capabilities and strengthening partnerships with various enforcement agencies, including the Department of Defense, to enhance border security. Slosar brings significant experience from his 26-year career, which includes roles such as Chief of the Law Enforcement Operations Directorate at the U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters in Washington, D.C., among others.
Chief Slosar's career began after graduating from the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in 1998, with his first assignment at the Santa Teresa Station in the El Paso Sector. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, his career advanced through various leadership roles across different sectors and stations, including international positions as a CBP Attaché in Guatemala and a CBP Advisor in Panama.
Before his current role, Chief Slosar held positions that contributed to the strategic direction of border security. He served as Chief Patrol Agent for the Big Bend and Miami Sectors and also worked as Acting Deputy Chief Patrol Agent for the El Paso Sector, gaining experience and insight into the unique challenges of different border areas.
