
Today, Damion Brown, a 33-year-old Washington D.C. resident, received an 18-year prison term for the sexual abuse of his girlfriend's 13-year-old daughter; the U.S. Attorney's Office reported the sentence, which also includes lifetime supervision and a no-contact order with the victim and her mother.
Following a jury trial that concluded on May 7, 2024, Brown was found guilty of ten felony charges that events on February 24, 2023, while he was alone with the victim, he entered her room as she changed clothes and committed the acts, after which DNA testing linked him to the crime.
U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. and MPD Chief Pamela Smith jointly announced the sentencing, highlighting the effort of the Metropolitan Police Department in investigating the case and the U.S. Attorney's Office team including Victim Advocate Veronica Vaughn, Paralegal Katina Washington-Adams, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah Folse and Robert Platt for their prosecution work.
"The defendant performed a number of sexual acts on the child, then left the room laughing" states the evidence presented during the trial Judge Anthony Epstein, overseeing the case, imposed the 18-year sentence and ensured Brown would avoid any future contact with the victim or her family members.
