The community of Whitefish Bay and the Cumberland Elementary School have been shaken by recent revelations involving one of their school leaders, Rebecca Salomon.
Parents were just informed that Rebecca Salomon, the associate principal at Cumberland Elementary School, had been charged with a serious crime stemming from a tragic event that unfolded on the night of December 29, 2024. According to FOX6 News, Salomon was charged on February 21 with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, prompting an immediate leave of absence since Christmas break.
TMJ4 reports that the fatal crash occurred at approximately 8:12 p.m. at the intersection of County Trunk P and County Trunk NN in the Town of West Bend. Salomon, 51, was driving her Jeep Grand Cherokee when she ran a stop sign and collided with a Chevy Impala. The driver of the Impala was taken to the hospital and later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The legal proceedings against Salomon outline two charges: homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration. As detailed in the criminal complaint, Salomon admitted to having consumed three margaritas at Lucky Shots, a tavern in West Bend, prior to driving. "Her blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.109, above the legal limit," as documented by CBS58.
Data from Salomon's vehicle showed she was driving 52 mph in a 45-mph zone just before the crash. She was over the legal alcohol limit, and authorities believe her impairment led to either ignoring a stop sign or failing to yield.
