Wilmington Police have apprehended a 32-year-old man, Kacey White, in relation to a reported armed carjacking that shook the neighborhood over a week ago. The incident in question took place on February 13 around 7:00 p.m., near the crossing of East 2nd and North Lombard Streets. Following a multi-day probe into the carjacking, police pinpointed White as the prime suspect and arrested him.
Authorities conducted the arrest smoothly, snatching White without a skirmish on February 18, at around 12:38 p.m., in the vicinity of the 200 block of Poplar Street. This successful operation was credited to the combined efforts of the Gun Intelligence Unit. In a subsequent move, a search warrant executed in the same block led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm handgun and the stolen vehicle tied to case.
As reported by Nixle, White is facing a series of serious charges including Robbery (First Degree), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited. These charges reflect the severity of his alleged actions and highlight the risk posed to public safety.
Following the arrest and the filing of charges, White was processed through the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas. There, he learned that he would be housed in the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution under a cash-only bail set at $150,000—a sum reflective of the gravity of his alleged crimes.
