In a harrowing incident near two Windsor schools, a DUI driver, later identified as Guillermo Huerta Morales, wreaked havoc on the roadway, leading to his arrest yesterday afternoon. According to a social media post by the Town of Windsor Police Department, alert citizens first notified authorities of the swerving vehicle that struck multiple curbs as it departed the vicinity of Windsor Middle School and circled at 2:15 pm.

Additional 911 calls quickly followed as eyewitnesses reported the erratic driver's trajectory heading towards Brooks Elementary School, striking a parked car. Upon arrival at the scene near Natalie Drive and Jane Drive, Windsor Deputies detained Morales, who was showing "obvious signs of impairment due to consuming alcoholic beverages," the Town of Windsor Police Department described.

Morales, 46, of Windsor, was notably uncooperative with law enforcement at the site of his eventual stop, impelled by a collision into a vehicle parked in a residential driveway. This lack of cooperation led to a bail enhancement request by the deputies, which was subsequently granted. After being examined at a hospital, it was determined that Morales had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .29, far exceeding the legal limit.

The Sonoma County Jail is now housing Morales, where he was booked on charges that include 23152(a) CVC and 23152(b) CVC, with his bond set at $150,000.
