In a brazen afternoon encounter, Rohnert Park law enforcement officers found themselves pursuing Calvin Tsui, a 40-year-old man from Yuba City, and an unidentified female suspect accused of using counterfeit bills at a local Walmart. The duo, having swiftly fled the scene in their vehicle upon the officers' approach, shortly thereafter met with misfortune when their vehicle collided with another at the intersection of Redwood and Business Park just before 2:19 PM yesterday. According to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, the occupants of the other car involved in the crash were left unharmed.
The suspects abandoned their vehicle following the collision and set off on foot. Tsui's escape was promptly cut short behind the Press Democrat building, where officers detained him. During the chase, officers witnessed Tsui discarding a handgun. The unloaded firearm was recovered.
A further search revealed that Tsui was not merely a suspect in the counterfeit currency case but also carried the weight of outstanding warrants from previous violations of Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS). The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety officials confirmed that Tsui had been booked into jail facing charges: reckless driving, PRCS violation, firearms possession by a felon, ammunition possession by a prohibited person, controlled substance possession with prior convictions, unlawful drug paraphernalia possession, obstruction/resisting arrest, providing false identification to police, hit and run, conspiracy to commit a crime, driving with a suspended license, possession of burglary tools, destruction/concealment of evidence, possession of counterfeit items, shoplifting, possession of stolen property, and manufacturing/selling counterfeit registered goods.
The aforementioned female accomplice, having evaded immediate capture, remains at large. Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding her whereabouts or other details pertinent to this case to step forward.
