Arlington's Public Library is giving the community plenty to look forward to this Spring Break with a wide-ranging set of events that cater to book lovers, craft enthusiasts, gamers, and music fans alike. The weeklong series, occurring from March 15-22, includes author visits, a family carnival, sewing camps, and themed parties.

First up on the schedule, according to a release by the City of Arlington's official news website, is "Authors in Arlington," featuring Kari Lavelle and Lindsay Leslie on Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. The event, titled "Battle of the Genres: Fiction vs Nonfiction," invites patrons to explore the dichotomy between storytelling and informative prose. Leslie, author of titles like "This Book is Spineless" and "Dusk Explorers," joins Lavelle, known for books such as "We Move the World," in a moderated panel followed by a Q&A session and book signing.

The festivities continue with the Spring Family Carnival on Monday, March 17, and a Dinosaur Tea Party for the younger members on Tuesday, which does not require registration. However, space is limited in the playroom. Teens haven't been left out, with a special Teen Game Night on the same day and a throwback Flower Power Party on Wednesday, complete with oldies music, flower-based crafts, and face painting.

For crafters, the library hosts a two-day Sewing Camp starting Monday, where children aged 9 to 12 can learn to use a sewing machine and make a drawstring bag. In the realm of gaming, there's Game Day on Thursday catering to kids aged 7 to 12, and a Taylor Swift-themed hangout on Friday, where fans can participate in karaoke and crafts while indulging in Swift's discography. Participants are encouraged to take photos with album-themed flyers for a chance to win a swag bag, and, for tabletop role-playing game enthusiasts, March 22 marks Dungeons & Dragons Day with activities and campaign sessions designed for fans of all ages.
