The calm is set to be fleeting. Tonight ushers in patchy drizzle after midnight and fog that could cling to the streets until dawn. The temperature is likely to hover around a low of 45 degrees, the winds maintaining a modest southeast blow of 5 to 7 mph. Baltimoreans should brace for a cloudy Saturday as well, with the drizzle playing hide-and-seek before 11 a.m. and highs touching a more comfortable 63 degrees.
As for Saturday night, the clouds stick around, albeit with a promise of retention through Sunday. The lows will keep at 57 degrees, while a southeast wind picks up the pace, with gusts potentially hitting 18 mph. There is a chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. The high will be near 70. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%.
It isn't until Sunday night that the city can expect the rain to really let loose, with showers and a potential rumble of thunderstorms before 2 a.m. After the tempest, temperatures will descend to a low around 51 degrees, and the chance of precipitation soars to 90%. The National Weather Service forecasts that the rain may linger into early Monday, but the skies are set to clear soon after, granting sun with highs near 61 degrees and a subsequent evening low around 42.
The sun will continue to grace the sky on Tuesday, warming the city to a high of 68 degrees. The NWS notes that nightfall will bring only a slight chill, the mercury dropping to a mild 47 degrees. Wednesday offers more of the same with a high near 73. However, by Thursday, the atmosphere juggles fickleness once more, with the possibility of showers and partly sunny conditions, the highs cresting near a still-pleasant 71 degrees.
