The City of Citrus Heights has launched a new initiative to shine a spotlight on the often unsung heroes of community service with its Citrus Heights Chip-In Hall of Fame Award. This program seeks to recognize local volunteers who exceed expectations in contributing to the community, embodying the 'Citrus Heights Cares' philosophy. Starting today, individuals can nominate a worthy resident volunteer, someone who selflessly dedicates time to better the community in ways like beautification projects or acts of kindness, according to an announcement on the Citrus Heights official website.
Those interested in submitting a nomination have until March 26 to do so. The process ensures that nominees remain anonymous when presented to the selection panel, which is comprised of representatives from the city and local organizations. Eligibility is straightforward: nominees must be residents of Citrus Heights and can either volunteer through individual initiatives or as part of a group. Soon after the nomination period closes, a list of the judging panel's group affiliations will be posted on the city's website, Citrus Heights.
The Citrus Heights volunteer community will come together for a special Volunteer Appreciation Reception on April 23, coinciding with National Volunteer Appreciation Week. This reception, to be held before the City Council meeting, promises to highlight the contributions of all community volunteers. It will also serve as the moment when the Chip-In Hall of Fame Award nominees and winner are duly recognized. Moreover, to maintain year-round acknowledgment, the city plans to showcase all the nominees and their service stories across its communication platforms throughout the year.
