It's time for a spring clean, Brighton residents. The city's Spring Trash Bash is back on the calendar, scheduled for the last weekend in April. According to the City of Brighton, the large-item disposal program will roll out on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the local Wastewater Treatment Facility, giving locals the chance to rid themselves of cumbersome waste.
The Trash Bash is designed specifically for items that are too big for regular trash bins, think old sofas, unwieldy cabinets, and defunct lawn equipment. For those with special needs, the city hasn't forgotten you. There's a pick-up service slated for Tuesday, April 22, and Wednesday, April 23. To get on the pick-up list, give a ring to 303-655-2087. Do note, while the city is happy to haul off larger refuse, it won't be accepting just anything, items like household trash, paint, and electronics are a big no-no.
Now, there's a small bit of civic duty that comes with disposal. Brighton officials are asking for proof of residency, so bring that water bill or driver’s license to show you're a local. And if you can, there's a suggested donation of $10 to offset the program costs, seems a small price for a clutter-free basement or garage. For those rolling in with tires, fees apply, $7 for car and light pickup tires, with larger tires incurring higher charges. A gentle reminder for residents with trailers, be prepared to unload your junk to keep the line moving.
For those of you already planning your autumn cleaning schedule, the city is one step ahead. The Trash Bash is set to return for a second round in fall on Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20. Remember, the event caters to residential waste, so businesses will need to seek other disposal methods for commercial and industrial waste. For further inquiries about the Trash Bash or to volunteer, Brighton's waste management team can be reached at 303-655-2087 for more details.
