In a recent event that underscores the synergy between local business endeavors and the criminal justice system, the ribbon-cutting for Local Good Resale marked more than the opening of a new home goods shop in Collin County. The establishment, which funds the Local Good Collective programs by reselling donated furnishings, kitchenware, and decor, has aligned itself with a broader mission of supporting the community's critical needs through the Local Good Center.
Expressing their support for such community-oriented initiatives, the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office was represented at the event by DA Greg Willis and his team. According to a social media post from their office, they are committed to justice, rehabilitation, and fortifying a community foundation. The post highlighted, "We attended the ribbon-cutting for Local Good Resale, a home goods shop with a mission beyond retail."
The collaboration between the District Attorney’s Office and the Local Good Center features a Pre-Trial Diversion Program to provide second chances for those entangled in the justice system. ADA Marina Sawires, working with the Local Good's Executive Director Julissa Estrada, focuses on providing participants with essential resources and support, facilitating their progress towards a more productive life outside the criminal justice system.
Being present at the opening, DA Greg Willis was noted sharing the spotlight with an invested ADA Sawires and Julissa Estrada. Integrating such community projects with the justice system has been touted as a pathway to more than individual rehabilitation—it's seen as a stepping stone towards a safer and more resilient Collin County.
