The Columbus Division of Police is currently on the lookout for a suspect involved in a bank robbery that took place earlier this week. On the afternoon of last Thursday, just as midday gave way to the early trace of the afternoon rush, a man walked into the Huntington Bank on Gemini Place. It was 12:35 p.m. when he began a seemingly innocuous conversation with the bank tellers. The scenario rapidly took a dark turn when the man revealed a black handgun, demanding money, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
The employees, faced with dire circumstances, complied with the demands, placing an undisclosed amount of cash into the black backpack the suspect brought. With the money in his possession, the suspect exited the bank, fleeing on foot in a northbound direction. The description provided for the suspect detailed him as a white male, approximately 40 years old and 5'9" tall. His attire included a black zip-up hoodie, jeans, and white Nike tennis shoes, topped off with a white mask sporting a gray camouflage pattern.
Authorities are urging anyone with information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual to come forward. The Robbery Unit can be contacted directly at 614-645-4665. To facilitate anonymous tips, the Columbus Division of Police also suggests contacting Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477). The collective effort of the community could prove crucial in resolving this case and preventing future incidents.
