Over a span of just two days, DC's Platoon 3 demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their community, handling an astounding 736 emergency calls. The Facebook post from DC Fire And EMS provided a breakdown of the incidents: 209 critical medical emergencies, 369 non-critical EMS dispatches, and a total of 158 responses to fire-related emergencies and other situations. The breadth of responses illustrates the varying demands placed on the city's first responders.
While most clock out after eight or nine hours, for the responders on duty March 29-30, their time was consumed by back-to-back calls offering little in the way of respite. A closer look at the numbers reveals a relentless pace—with critical incidents requiring urgent attention nearly every four minutes, assuming a perfect distribution of calls over the 48-hour period.
Despite this, the professionals across Platoon 3 continued performing their roles with efficiency and dedication to the city's residents.
