Tragedy struck the Village of Waukesha on the last day of February when a deceased individual was discovered in a local residence, prompting a death investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office. The authorities initiated the inquiry after deputies responded to a welfare check at approximately 9:44 a.m. yesterday at a home on Cider Hills Drive near Rose Glen Elementary, TMJ4 reported.
While details surrounding the incident remain sparse, the sheriff's office has now found themselves before a dual mystery, investigating the cause of one family member's death and diligently searching for other family members who have been reported missing. According to WISN 12 News, the deputies found only one person dead inside the house, and the whereabouts of the other family members are unknown.
Neighbors expressed shock and dismay at the unsettling discovery. "We've been here, I think, 14 years, and never anything like that," John Berg, a local resident, told TMJ4. The usually quiet community has been rocked by this incident, with many awaiting further details from the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have attempted to reassure the public amidst the ongoing investigation, stating there is no current threat to the community. Despite making every effort, as of yet, the sheriff's office has not released the identity of the deceased or the nature of the death. "At this time, the whereabouts of the other family members remain unknown," Lt. Nicholas Wenzel of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office said, in a release obtained by GMToday. Further information is expected as the investigation progresses.
WISN 12 News contacted the sheriff's office for more details about the victim who requested the welfare check and any additional information on the case. At the time of this report, no response had been received.
