Michigan State Police are currently investigating a shooting incident on Detroit's east side that occurred last Saturday night and appears to be a result of road rage. According to a social media post from the Michigan State Police Second District, the incident involved a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee and another vehicle, resulting in a bullet hole being found on the motorist's car. No injuries have been reported following the event.
As per CBS News Detroit, the incident unfolded near westbound Interstate 94 and Conner Street at approximately 11:40 p.m. last Saturday. A man driving in the area reported being "road raging" with the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which allegedly passed him at high speed and then abruptly slammed on the brakes. Moments later, he spotted the same Jeep parked on the shoulder, and as he passed, he heard three gunshots and saw muzzle flashes.
Despite immediate action by the authorities, Michigan State Police stated that their canvassing of the area did not turn up evidence beyond the single bullet hole in the complainant's vehicle. The Michigan State Police Second District stated, as per The Detroit News, emphasizing the severity of the situation, “It is only driving. There is no reason to get involved in arguments with other drivers, let alone use a gun in that argument."
In response to this violent expression of road rage, the Michigan State Police are actively seeking witnesses. Anyone with information about the incident has been urged to contact the authorities directly by calling 855-MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAKUP, as was highlighted in a statement reported by Audacy. The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement officials endeavor to piece together the events of that perilous night on I-94.
