Yesterday morning, a dramatic head-on collision in Seattle's East Queen Anne neighborhood resulted in critical injuries and a DUI arrest. Seattle Police Department's arrest of a 22-year-old driver on charges of vehicular assault comes after three individuals were left in critical condition.

Around 2:10 a.m., officers were called to the 2500 block of Westlake Avenue North to address the aftermath of the crash. The Seattle Fire Department was already providing emergency medical care and extrication to trapped individuals, reported the Seattle Police Department. The Fire Department encountered multiple injuries, with six of the eight people involved appearing injured and bleeding.

The incident involved a white Acura sedan, which was reportedly racing another vehicle before venturing into opposing lanes and colliding head-on with a northbound Ford Explorer. Each vehicle's occupants suffered varying degrees of injuries, with Harborview Medical Center admitting all involved to address their critical and serious conditions.

An assessment conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert at the hospital led to the Acura's driver's arrest. "The driver of the Acura was determined to be impaired, and the DRE collected blood evidence from him upon serving a DUI warrant signed by a judge," said the press release from the Seattle Police Department. Recovery efforts and investigative processes ensued, which included road closures and vehicle removal.
