
Yesterday morning, an incident unfolded on Richmond Avenue. A 75-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while he was reportedly crossing the road, not at a crosswalk. The accident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. near 6100 Richmond Avenue, according to a Houston Police Department report.
The man, whose identity is still to be confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was hit by a westbound black Chrysler Pacifica. The driver, a 35-year-old male, stopped to remain at the scene following the collision. Houston Fire Department paramedics were quickly to respond, rushing the pedestrian to Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer F. Flynn of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division are leading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. In their initial findings, the driver of the Chrysler Pacifica was determined not to be impaired. After questioning, he was released as there were no immediate signs of involvement on his part. Details are limited as the HPD continues its investigation into the incident.
