Motorists navigating Los Angeles County will face a series of roadblocks this week, with Caltrans having scheduled lane and ramp closures on the I-605 for essential roadworks. According to CBS Los Angeles, the southbound 605 Freeway experienced closures from Slauson Avenue to I-5 in Santa Fe Springs over the past weekend for paving operations, signaling the sprawl of infrastructural healing across the arterial veins of the city.
The most recent wave of disturbances to the flow of the 605 Freeway is part of the broader Super 605 freeway corridor improvement project, which is expected to reach a culmination by the year 2030. This segment of work, between Katella Avenue and Telegraph Road, is inclusive of replacing distressed pavement, repaving, improving signage, and revamping skid resistance. The closures are not related to the extended weekend closure from Friday to Monday.
Caltrans District 7 detailed further interruptions with overnight lane closures scheduled from Monday through Friday, March 28. The closures will impact both northbound and southbound directions of the 605, stretching between Cerritos and Irwindale. During the weekdays, the closures are slated to take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., while the Thursday and Friday interruptions will extend one hour less, ending at 4:00 a.m.

Specific disruptions include the closure of up to two lanes from Telegraph Road to I-10 and connectors to eastbound & westbound State Route 60 & I-10. A slew of southbound ramps will be out of service, with the Ramona Boulevard on-ramps and off-ramps for Ramona Boulevard & Arrow Highway slated for closure, further squeezing the transit of weary travelers seeking passage through these corridors. Moreover, modifications to the southbound I-605 off-ramp to eastbound Arrow Highway will see the left-turn lane closed until April 18 to aid in the widening of the off-ramp, though the right-turn lane will remain navigable.
