A former employee of the Charles H. Hickey, Jr. School, Ronald Neverdon, age 78, has been brought up on charges related to the sexual abuse of minors, according to recent statements by the Baltimore County Police. Reports from WMAR2 News indicate that Neverdon, who served as a staff member at the all-boys detention facility managed by the Department of Juvenile Services from the 1960s to the 1990s, now faces multiple counts for the alleged abuse of scores of young victims.
In a grim recounting of events that span over a decade, police declare that the abuse occurred from 1976 through 1988. Working in a supervisory capacity, Neverdon exploited his role to assist the detained youth. Court documents assert as WMAR2 News reported, "He raped children in his office. He molested them in the gym. He sexually abused plaintiffs in their rooms. He abused them in the bathroom, the shower and anywhere else he could."
The allegations against Neverdon not only encompass actions within the confines of the detention center. Accusations also involve abuse that allegedly took place at Neverdon's residence. Furthermore, it has been claimed that Neverdon employed his authority to bribe and extort his victims, as one court document stated.
Concerned parties or potential victims of Ronald Neverdon's alleged criminal acts have been urged to contact Baltimore County Police, which provided contact numbers. This plea was echoed in the report FOX Baltimore. Those who possess relevant information or believe they may have been victims are encouraged to call the police at 410-887-7720 or Child Protective Services at 410-887-8463.
