An incident that seemed as ordinary as a craving for a frozen delight took a turn for the criminal when a 32-year-old man from Gridley, California, held up a Benicia gas station for cash and a slushie drink. The Benicia Police Department reported via a social media post that the robbery occurred yesterday after the suspect waited patiently for customers to depart before demanding money from the cashier.
The suspect then forcibly opened the cash register, secured an undisclosed amount of money and his slushie, and fled the scene. Thanks to witness testimony, a "BOLO" alert was issued, leading to Rocklin PD officers' detection and subsequent detention of the vehicle. "Officers from Rocklin PD spotted the vehicle and detained the subject. Our officers responded to Rocklin to arrest and transport the suspect to Solano County Jail," stated the Benicia Police Department.
Further details emerged from the Benicia Police Department's arrest records, naming the suspect as Thomas Wayne Cecil Cabrera, who stands 5'9" tall and weighs 250 lbs, with brown hair and eyes. The arrest record, which can be found on the Benicia Police Department's website, shows that Cabrera was taken into custody on the 4000 Block of Rocklin Road yesterday at 5:57 PM. He faces a charge of first-degree robbery under California Penal Code 211.
