The Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) is showcasing the richness of Houston's diverse communities through its "Feels Like Home" exhibition series at City Hall. Necole S. Irvin, Director of MOCA, highlighted the city's commitment to supporting its artists and the significance of inclusive civic engagement. "Opening our historic City Hall to the creative community highlights our city's commitment to supporting Houston-based artists and ensuring diverse voices play a vital role in civic life," Irvin stated, according to an announcement shared by the City of Houston.

Houston, with a population surpassing 6.8 million, is highlighted in the "Feels Like Home" exhibition series, now in its second year, as per the city's announcement. The series explores the personal and collective stories that contribute to a Houstonian's sense of place. Held at the historic City Hall, the exhibition offers a variety of events and displays, available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees can expect a range of exhibits, from international artistic connections to mixed-media works, as well as discussions on the relationship between art, community, and government.

From March 3 to March 28, the Harambee Gallery & Sister Cities of Houston will display artwork and cultural insights from Houston’s sister cities. From April 18 to June 27, Lauren Luna’s mixed media works will be showcased, reflecting the city’s character. On June 13, the SAID Institute will host a Community & Government Night, facilitating discussions among Houston’s residents.

According to the City of Houston, the Advocates of a Latino Museum of Cultural and Visual Arts & Archive Complex in Houston, Harris County (ALMAAHH) will curate an exhibition during Hispanic Heritage Month, from August 15 to November 7. The year will conclude with the Asian American Art & Culture Initiative and UH 2024 Senior Block's collaboration, "A La Casa," running from November 20 to January 9, 2026. The exhibition will explore the theme of home through a multicultural lens, focusing on diversity and inclusion.

MOCA is hosting the "Feels Like Home" exhibition to offer Houstonians, both long-time residents and newcomers, the opportunity to explore what contributes to the city’s sense of community.
