Authorities in Waller County have apprehended Carlos Correa, a Houston-area contractor accused of property theft and financial exploitation of an elderly client. The arrest, which occurred during a bustling Sunday rodeo, brought to light allegations that Correa's company, Correa Construction, had been involved in illicit activities leading to default judgments totaling more than half a million dollars. According to ABC13, the suspect now faces several lawsuits.
Amidst the legal turmoil, the story of how a 92-year-old woman lost $30,000 has come to particularly resonate. The Waller County Sheriff's Office shared this financial loss along with information about the arrest on social media. Efforts to prosecute seem to have been shed some light on the extent of Correa's alleged misconduct, with records showing three theft of property charges and one charge of financial abuse of the elderly, all aimed at Correa. In a statement obtained by FOX 26, the contractor was sued in Waller, Washington, and Austin Counties as far back as 2024.
One particularly harrowing account involved Genevieve Parker, the aforementioned 92-year-old, who had initially hired Correa Construction to remodel her bathrooms. The construction work quickly turned into a source of distress when Correa allegedly began to demolish her walls and subsequently, seldom showed up to do any actual construction. Correa's bond has been set at $1 million, reflecting the seriousness of the charges against him and Correa Construction, as per FOX 26.
