A high-speed pursuit unfolded on I-75 in the early hours of the morning when a Kentucky man rocketed past a Monroe County Sheriff's deputy at speeds reportedly reaching 106 mph. The chase began around 1:24 a.m. on Monday just south of Detroit, as confirmed by the Monroe County Sheriff's Facebook post. The driver, operating a Nissan Sentra, was initially detected exceeding the 70 mph speed limit in Berlin Township, near Exit 27.
Attempts by the deputy to initiate a traffic stop only prompted the driver to further accelerate, determined to evade law enforcement. Engaging in a pursuit, authorities strategically deployed stop sticks south of Exit 15, which successfully brought the suspect's vehicle to a halt by deflating three of its tires. This detainment of the driver occurred in Frenchtown Township without further incident, as reported by CBS News Detroit.
The individual, a 36-year-old man from Kentucky, now faces arraignment on a charge of fleeing and eluding, as stated in the aforementioned news report. Detained at the Monroe County Jail, the suspect awaits legal proceedings in First District Court. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office continues its probe into this case and has put out a call for any additional information, encouraging individuals to contact the department directly at 734-240-7710.
