Lancaster, California is undergoing a phase of roadway enhancement, as shared by the city in conjunction with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Road maintenance activities are scheduled to continue until March 27 to improve roadway conditions and safety for motorists traveling on State Route (SR) 14 and SR 138. Affected areas and dates include SR 138 West on March 20 and stretches of SR 138 East on March 24 and 25. Additionally, SR 14 North and South will see work on March 26 and 27, respectively, as outlined in an announcement by the City of Lancaster.
Maintenance efforts will involve sweeping of the center median and right shoulder, the removal of unsheltered encampments, grading of right shoulders, and the sweeping of on and off-ramps. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the work zones, comply with posted speed limits, and be prepared for potential delays, especially during peak hours. Vice Mayor Marvin Crist emphasized the value of advanced notice for these construction activities, stating, "We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Caltrans to ensure our roadways remain clean and safe," and highlighted the importance of the alerts for residents who commute regularly, according to the city's press release.
The city administration recognizes the inconvenience that comes with road maintenance and extends its gratitude to the community for their patience and cooperation during this period.
