
Early Thursday morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the location of what once was the historic Pacific Dining Car restaurant in the Westlake area, as reported by the LAFD website. The fire at 1310 W 6th St was first noticed at approximately 6:53 A.M., and within 45 minutes firefighters achieved a knockdown, preventing further spread of the blaze and managing to confine the damage to the two-story office building and the attached one-story restaurant.
Initial responders encountered smoke billowing from both floors of the vacant office structure furthermore, the restaurant, already hit by a previous fire, needed additional resources to tackle the flames in its attic and roof according to the LAFD's alert, crews were mobilized swiftly and upheld an offensive strategy to safeguard the property. At the height of the emergency, "approximately 100 firefighters" were on scene, maintaining an aggressive stance to subdue the fire, though no individuals were found or harmed in the incident, a detail confirmed by the LAFD update.
With the situation under control by 7:38 A.M., heavy equipment crews and the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety were called in to evaluate the structural soundness of the afflicted buildings, as further elaborated by LAFD's knockdown announcement. The Los Angeles Police Department is now investigating to determine the cause of the fire, yet as of now, the trigger remains undisclosed.
