A blaze erupted in a carport in Hollywood Hills West on Thursday afternoon, leading to a swift response from the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire, which was reported at 1:16 P.M. at 7979 W Hollywood Blvd, fully engulfed a 3-bay carport and threatened structures on two sides, according to an LAFD alert. Downed power lines compounded the dangerous situation in the rear of the property.

The response included firefighters from multiple stations, who began battling the flames in what was described by the Fire Department as "offensive mode." As often happens with structural fires, the danger of the situation was heightened not simply by the blaze itself, but also by its potential spread to adjacent properties. However, the department was able to quickly knock down the fire in 20 minutes, with a team of 44 firefighters on the scene determinedly working to protect surrounding structures and a hill to the north.

Several units were involved in the response, including several engine trucks, ladder trucks, and a rescue ambulance, operating under the commands of Battalion Chiefs from Battalions 5 and 18. Following the knockdown of the fire, efforts shifted towards ensuring that no additional fires had been sparked by embers, with two small spot fires on neighboring properties extinguished, as noted in the LAFD's follow-up announcement.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Firefighting crews remained on site to thoroughly assess for any further fire risk as a result of the ember cast. "Knockdown in 20 minutes. 44 firefighters on scene worked quickly to protect structures surrounding the fire, as well as a hillside to the north," according to the LAFD's statement.
