Early this morning, at around 4:15 am, a man died in a fatal shooting at Cedar Crest Apartments in Parkland. Deputies descended into chaos as they rushed to the scene, where they found a 32-year-old male victim and multiple shell casings strewn across 108th St. S and the complex's front yard area. Despite efforts to revive the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As first reported by the Pierce County Sheriff's Blog, officials were greeted by a panicked crowd when they arrived, with some witnesses screaming and others aimlessly running. Conducting welfare checks throughout the apartment complex, thankfully, revealed no additional casualties. However, the perpetrator remains at large, with no clear motive for the shooting established as of yet. Authorities are currently interviewing residents, gathering video evidence, and examining the numerous shell casings found.
108th St. S is expected to remain inaccessible for numerous hours as detective and forensic teams painstakingly work through the evidence. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending family notification and further investigation.
