An explosion disrupted the morning calm in Reseda, where a 45-year-old man was injured after an oven malfunctioned inside a commercial building. The incident took place at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday in the 7100 block of North Canby Avenue, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Upon arrival, firefighters located the individual in "fair condition," amid damage to a 20-foot-by-25-foot area of the premises. The scope of the explosion was outlined by authorities and underscored by a dispatch from the Los Angeles Fire Department shared by FOX LA, which further detailed the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety's role in evaluating the structural integrity of the affected building. Hazmat crews were called for a standard air quality check after the explosion, although the situation was deemed "static" with no further dangers anticipated at this time.
The LAFD alert indicated no active fire was found at the scene, but the extent of the damage prompted a thorough safety evaluation by the Department of Building and Safety. HazMat specialists were summoned to the scene to conduct precautionary air monitoring.
Details about the cause of the explosion have not been widely disclosed.
