
A 55-year-old man sustained serious injuries after a 25-foot fall in Canoga Park on Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Fire Department reports. According to a statement obtained by KTLA, the incident occurred near 7000 N Topanga Canyon Boulevard, a location marked by the bridge above Bell Creek.
At about 2:06 p.m., firefighters responded to the scene where the man reportedly descended into the wash below. The LAFD has provided few specifics about the cause of the fall, stating only that the patient fell into the wash, reportedly jumping from the street, according to an alert from the department. Following the accident, an elaborate below-grade litter basket operation was conducted, bringing the man back up to street level for hospital transport.
Rescue personnel used a fire engine to lift the injured man from the wash, promptly ensuring he received medical attention. He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance where he arrived in serious condition. As of 3:00 p.m. that day, no update on his condition had been provided beyond the initial assessment of seriousness.
