The Manteca Police Department, along with local law enforcement agencies, held a Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) on Thursday. The Tracy Police, San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, Lodi Police, Stockton Police, and Lathrop Police joined the effort to improve road safety and ensure drivers followed California’s vehicle laws, according to the Manteca Police Department Facebook post.
During their vigilant patrols, a litany of violations were recorded. As detailed by Manteca Police Department, the operation yielded 301 traffic stops and 254 citations, deterring dangerous on-road behavior before it could manifest in tragedy.
The enforcement effort led to two DUI arrests, four drivers with suspended licenses, and six driving without valid licenses. Four vehicles were impounded. In addition to traffic violations, officers also arrested one person on a felony warrant, issued 11 misdemeanor citations, and conducted one parole search to ensure overall safety and lawfulness, as reported by the Manteca Police Department.
Road safety is an ongoing effort, not just a one-time action. Manteca Police Department emphasize that everyone can help make the streets safer. Simple actions like slowing down, watching for cyclists and pedestrians, not using phones while driving, and avoiding impaired driving can save lives. Residents are also encouraged to report dangerous driving. With more S.T.E.P. operations planned for the coming year, the commitment to improving road safety across San Joaquin County is clear.
