
A major fire tore through a row of townhomes on Dora St. in the University Place area last Saturday, resulting in an estimated $1.5 million in damages. The Houston Fire Department responded to the 5300 block around 8:04 p.m., where five three-story homes were engulfed in flames. According to the Houston Fire Department, heavy smoke and flames were visible upon their arrival as they began their initial interior attack.
To quickly contain the fire, additional units were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters transitioned to defensive operations and successfully extinguished the flames within approximately 15 minutes. One civilian sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is under investigation by HFD arson investigators, as mentioned in a report by the City of Houston.
The fire demanded a large response, with 58 personnel on the scene, including firefighters from multiple stations throughout the city. Stations 7, 25, 15, 23, 6, 8, 21, 9, 16, 37, 46, 33, 24, 30, and Rescue 42 were all involved in combating the fire.
