Amid the address, Goynes-Brown highlighted government operation achievements, including "Completed 68,109 inspections" and the issuance of "165 Certificates of Occupancy for commercial and multi-family properties.” Along with the processing of "11,843 permits representing $17 billion in revenue," these feats have positioned the city as a beacon of efficient governance. As announced on the City of North Las Vegas news platform, business licensing showed remarkable pace, with "1,219 licenses processed in 2024," and the introduction of online self-certification for contractors aimed at cutting down bureaucratic lag.
Infrastructure upgrades haven't missed a beat, with the city investing $38 million in the Las Vegas Boulevard Construction Upgrade, enhancing street maintenance and traffic safety while upgrading water and sewage systems. The city's official statement highlights the Apex Water Tank expansion providing utility support to Apex Industrial Park. Additionally, the city celebrates the Project Sparkle initiative that has revitalized eight parks in Wards 1 & 2, with plans to refurbish 12 more parks, and the Tree Inventory Initiative, supported by a $1 million grant, promoting urban greenery.
Leveraging the spotlight on community safety, North Central Area Command has become operational, housing "the mobile command center, K-9 unit, SWAT team and over eighty officers." The City of North Las Vegas has observed a surge in economic momentum with projects like Hylo Park breaking ground in tandem with Agora Realty & Management, adding a commercial lifestyle center to service 700 new housing units. "Downtown Gateway, a 19-acre, $200 million development," is estimated to generate 900 new jobs, accompanied by advanced medical facilities. Apex Industrial Park remains a keystone project, expanding over 7,000 acres with the Kroger Distribution Center and the Garnet Valley/Apex Water & Wastewater System's $900 million investment setting the economic pulse.
Steps are being taken to improve community health and well-being, including the establishment of a Nevada State University Satellite Campus to enhance educational opportunities. The Dolores Huerta Resource Center, opening on April 22, will provide workforce training, education, and health support in both Spanish and English.
