The Metropolitan Police Department is reaching out to the community in hopes of identifying suspects connected to a recent robbery in the Southeast sector of the city. The incident, occurring in broad daylight on the afternoon of March 5, has raised concerns around safety and the brazenness of local criminals.

Reports from the MPD state that at around 4:38 p.m., officers from the Seventh District were called to the 2100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast following a robbery. Upon arrival, they learned that the suspects had approached the victim, forcefully taken their belongings, and then made their escape from the scene. Despite the quick response of officers, the suspects managed to elude immediate capture.

Fortunately for the investigators, the suspects were caught on surveillance footage. The Metropolitan Police Department has released these images to the public in the hope that someone will recognize the individuals responsible for the crime. A statement provided by the MPD, and published on their website, gives a glimpse of the suspects caught on camera.

Citizens are encouraged to help in the case yet advised for their safety, to not confront the suspects directly but instead, to call the police at (202) 727-9099, or to send their tips via text to the MPD's dedicated TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. To incentivize potential sources, the department is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000. This reward will be provided for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the perpetrators responsible for this, or any other crime within the District of Columbia.
