Calling all young creatives with a vision of unity and peace: Milwaukee's own Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II, is urging the youth to put their artistic and literary skills to the test for the Sister Cities International (SCI) Young Artists and Authors Showcase. This year's theme, “Friendship: The Heartbeat of Global Peace,” aims to celebrate the indispensable role of friendship in bridging divides and cultivating global harmony. Submission deadlines are tight, ending April 1, so it's time to get those creative juices flowing.
Young artists and writers between the ages of 12 and 18 are encouraged to fully embrace this chance to not just challenge their own artistic boundaries but also to join a significant international conversation. With two separated age categories, each promising first, second, and third place prizes ranging from $250 to $1,000, this showcase is no small affair. Winning works will get a spot in the spotlight within the Sister Cities International’s expansive global network.
Alderman Stamper, chair of the City of Milwaukee Sister Cities Committee, is hopeful that Milwaukee's youth will seize this opportunity to add their voices to the global dialogue. "Friendship has the power to unite us all, transcending borders and cultures. I encourage every young artist and author to embrace this opportunity to share your unique vision of a peaceful world," Stamper stated, as reported by the city's official website. "Your work could inspire change, spark dialogue, and help shape a more peaceful future."
