Residents of Milwaukee's District 7 are setting the stage for an important dialogue as the Milwaukee Board of School Directors candidates prepare to engage with the community at a public forum on Monday, March 3. As education remains a cornerstone for future developments within the city, this platform will allow constituents to directly query those seeking office. The event, sponsored by the White Manor / Lyons Park neighborhood group, is scheduled to run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Audubon School, 3300 S. 39th St, with Gerron Jordan of WISN 12 serving as the moderator.
To encourage community participation, Alderman Peter Burgelis, who represents a swath of the district in his Aldermanic capacity, has called on residents to actively engage in this democratic process. "We've seen in recent months that school board directors are critically important positions. I urge residents to gather as much info as they can prior to casting a vote April 1, 2025. The candidate forum Monday is a great opportunity to do just that," Burgelis told the local community. This clarion call comes as District 7 constituents prepare to make an informed decision for the school board election poised next month, as per the City of Milwaukee website.
District 7's influence spans across several Milwaukee aldermanic districts, including the entirety of Burgelis' 11th District and portions of Ald. Sharlen Moore's District 10, Ald. JoCasta Zamarripa's District 8 and Ald. Scott Spiker's District 13. A representation of the geographic boundaries and constituents impacted by these discussions is made available through a map of MPS District 7, which can be found on the City of Milwaukee website.
