A severe traffic collision occurred last Tuesday, involving a motorcycle and a vehicle at the intersection of North Rampart Boulevard and Del Webb Boulevard, leaving the motorcyclist in critical condition. The incident took place around 5:32 p.m., according to a report by LVMPD. The motorcycle, identified as a 2018 Honda CMX 300 A, was proceeding on a green traffic signal when the accident happened.

Witnesses at the scene supported evidence that the motorcyclist was within their right of way. Traveling in the middle lane when a 2002 Buick Century, driven by 89-year-old Michael Maxin of Las Vegas, made a left turn across the motorcycle's path. Despite the signal allowing for his turn, Maxin failed to yield to the oncoming motorcyclist, resulting in the collision which propelled both the rider and vehicle in a southwest direction, as per the initial investigation.

The impact of the crash caused the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle, coming to a rest on the west sidewalk. Responding medical teams swiftly transported the individual, a 25-year-old male whose name is being withheld pending notification of family, to UMC Trauma Center. He was admitted with life-threatening injuries. Maxin, however, did not sustain any injuries during the incident and cooperated with authorities at the scene. No impairment signs were detected from Maxin at the time, stated officials.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section continues to look into the circumstances surrounding this critical incident. Relevant updates on the motorcyclist's condition and any further developments will be shared by the authorities. Anyone with information on the crash is encouraged to reach out to the LVMPD.
