The weather forecast for New York City's five boroughs offers a mixed bag of sun and chances of rain in the coming week, according to the National Weather Service. Today, citizens of Manhattan and Bronx can expect a sunny high near 60, with the Staten Island folks seeing a slightly cooler high of 59. As night falls, all regions are looking at lows in the low to mid-40s.
Wednesday is set to shine across the board with high temperatures in the mid to low 60s for Manhattan and Bronx but dipping slightly in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island to the mid-50s. With a light southeast wind picking up, it's on Thursday that skies begin to turn, where a 30 percent chance of rain is forecasted. While Manhattan might see rain after 5 pm, Brooklyn and Staten Island are expecting slight chances of drizzle before 8 am, and rain is anticipated for the Bronx in the late evening, according to the reports from the National Weather Service.
By Thursday night, all boroughs brace for a rainy interlude with a 90 percent chance of precipitation and new rainfall amounts looking to reach between a quarter to three-quarters of an inch. After the rains taper off early Friday morning, the forecast promises a return to mostly sunny conditions with highs hovering in the upper 40s and potential breeziness to spur New Yorkers to hold onto their hats.
Looking ahead to the weekend, partly sunny skies and highs near 60 are on tap for Saturday, but there's no rest for the precipitation-weary as Sunday night ushers in partly cloudy conditions before another round of likely rain comes knocking on Monday. While residents gear up for the weather roller coaster, the National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook reports no expected hazardous weather that would meet warning criteria today or in the coming days, with the exception of potential Gale conditions over coastal waters from late Thursday night into Friday.
