
The North Las Vegas community is set to gather at Raul P. Elizondo Elementary School tomorrow, to honor the memory of a fallen hero, Officer Raul P. Elizondo. As reported by the City of North Las Vegas, the event entitled Raul P. Elizondo Day, will offer a host of activities ranging from classroom visits to a dedication ceremony, and is designed to remember not just Officer Elizondo, but also pay tribute to all 'heroes in blue.'
Commemorating the life and bravery of Officer Elizondo, the day begins bright and early at 7 a.m. with an officer and guest breakfast followed by a flag raising ceremony at 7:40 a.m. Students will also benefit from the agenda with classroom visits starting at 8:15 a.m. where police officers will engage with the school kids. Such efforts aim to foster a positive bond between law enforcement and the youth of the community. In the spirit of remembrance and celebration, a series of demonstrations, a parade showcasing public safety and emergency response vehicles, and a K9 demonstration will also form part of the day’s activities, all leading up to the student dismissal at 2 p.m.
Raul P. Elizondo Elementary School is named in honor of the North Las Vegas Police Department officer who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on January 30, 1995. Officer Elizondo, who was 27 years old at the time of his passing, left a lasting impact on the community. His commitment to public service, exemplified by his recognition as "1994 Police Officer of the Year." His service continues to be recognized by the staff and students of the school, according to the City of North Las Vegas.
The event is open to all community members and will be held at Raul P. Elizondo Elementary School, located at 4865 N. Goldfield St., North Las Vegas, NV 89031. It honors Officer Elizondo’s service and the commitment and sacrifices made by law enforcement officers.
